Project: Basin Plan 5 yearly schedule 12 reports 2024
Authors: Murray–Darling Basin Authority
This report should be read as a point-in-time assessment as of 31 October 2024. An updated social and economic assessment is provided by the 2025 Review of social and economic impacts of the Basin Plan.
The MDBA Matter 3 report was partly based on draft research and analytical work that was subsequently refined through a quality assurance process – these refinements are detailed in the Matter 3 errata
The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) and other Basin governments are required to report every 5 years on a number of matters under Schedule 12 of the Basin Plan. These are statutory obligations and will provide information necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of the Basin Plan against its objectives and outcomes. These reports will inform the 2025 evaluation of the Basin Plan, with a line of sight to the Basin Plan Review in 2026. This report focuses on the MDBA’s 5-yearly reporting on Matter 3: ‘the extent to which the Basin Plan has affected social, economic and environmental outcomes in the Basin’.
