Project: Basin Plan 5 yearly schedule 12 reports 2024
Authors: Murray–Darling Basin Authority
This report should be read as a point-in-time assessment as of 31 October 2024. The Sustainable Rivers Audit 2025 provides an updated assessment.
The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) and the Basin state governments are required to report every 5 years on a number of Matters under Schedule 12 of the Basin Plan. These are statutory obligations and will provide information necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of the Basin Plan against its objectives and outcomes.
This report focuses on the MDBA’s five-yearly reporting on Matters 2 and 7:
-
Matter 2: The protection and restoration of water-dependent ecosystems and ecosystem functions in the Murray–Darling Basin, including for the purposes of strengthening their resilience in a changing climate.
-
Matter 7: The achievement of environmental outcomes at a Basin scale, by reference to the targets in Schedule 7.
This report presents information on observed environmental outcomes across the Basin up to 30 June 2023.
