Unemployment rate by Local Government Area, within and outside the Murray–Darling Basin.
This data is compiled by Marsden Jacobs Associates (MJA) from publicly available Jobs and Skills Australia Small Area Labour Markets (SALM) data, which is in turn derived from Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Labour Force, Estimated Resident Population and Census, as well as Centrelink administrative data.
The SALM figures for earlier periods are subject to revisions. Jobs and Skills Australia release the most recent data every quarter, which may include revisions to preceding quarters, due to the re-benchmarking of the ABS Labour Force data, a key input into the SALM data. The ABS Labour Force data itself is derived from surveys and is therefore subject to sampling and non-sampling error. While the ABS Labour Force sampling methodology is designed to minimise sampling error at the national and state/territory level, sampling error can be higher for more detailed geographies.
