4.3. Consumer Price Index

This data is compiled by the Murray–Darling Basin Authority from publicly available Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Consumer Price Index (CPI) data. The CPI measures the changes in the price of a basket of goods and services, hence the price changes experienced by households. The CPI index used is the Original All Group index for Australia for the June quarters, available from the ABS Consumer Price Index (ABS data release as at 25/03/2026).
